Dermatitis is a common allergic skin disease that is first triggered by pollens and eventually leads to all kinds of allergens. Itching leads to hair loss, scabs and thick, flaky skin. Hypoallergenic and medicated shampoos should be used. Flea bite dermatitis is caused by an allergic reaction to the saliva of a flea. Symptoms include severe itching, inflamed skin, hair loss and red bite marks. Flea control is the key to solving the problem, followed up with medicated shampoo, conditioner and a rinse to soothe the area.
